ramsey lake site of 1 of city s first major environmental reclamation projects. due air pollution problems in area, lake — has few water flow outlets — considered dead lake many years. however, following 1972 construction of inco superstack, dispersed smelter emissions city s mining industry on wider area, major environmental project launched clean lake s water , reintroduce aquatic life.


the project, successful, led further initiatives improve city s environment, including major tree-planting initiative. in 1992, united nations presented city of sudbury award recognize city s innovative environmental reclamation strategies.


blue-green algae blooms can produce toxins may present in lake.


ramsey lake has diverse population of fish, includes walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, white sucker, pumpkinseed, , rock bass.
