to isolate biceps brachii in elbow flexion, place shoulder in hyperextension.

in training biceps brachii, important distinguish between long head , short head of biceps. long head outer portion of muscle. short head inner portion of muscle.
there debate on best biceps workouts targeting each of these heads.
the first theory targeting based on proximity of arms in relation body. said when elbows pulled behind body, targets long head more. target short head, elbows should in front of body.
the second theory uses grip placement , angle primary factor in targeting each head. instance, target long head when using dumbbells or cables, grip should semi-supinated (hammer) grip palms face each other. if using barbell (ez grip or straight), grip should inside of shoulder width. target short head when using dumbbells or cables, grip should supinated, palms facing completely. if using barbell (ez grip or straight), grip should outside of shoulder width.
