hohannes born on st. croix, son of plantation owner , later general war commissioner adam levin søbøtker (1753–1823) , susanne van beverhoudt (1761–1811). sent copenhagen apprenticed de coninck & co. , later future father-in-law lars larsen s trading house. married johanne margrethe larsen 2 march 1796..


he became licensed grocer , began trading on danish west indies own ships under name søbøtker & co.. in 1804, søbøtker became partner in vilhelm duntzfelts trading house, duntzfelt & co..


søbøtker constructed country house Øregård in 1806. house designed joseph-jacques ramée. known extravagant life style. ran economic problems.
