the route of liège–bastogne–liège crosses 2 eastern walloon provinces, liège (province) , luxembourg, north south , back. distance more or less fixed @ 250–260 km. race starts in center of liège, after course follows straightforward 95 km (59 mi) route southwards bastogne, , winding 163 km (101 mi) route liège.


the second half of course contains numerous climbs, such stockeu, haute-levée, la redoute, , côte de saint-nicolas, before finishing in liège suburb of ans. in final 15 km of race, course makes remarkable transition meadowy , agrarian landscapes in ardennes post-industrial urban scenery of liège.


course changes

until 1991 race finished in liège s city center, flat run-in finish. in 1992 finish moved industrial suburb of ans, on northwestern side of city. steep côte de saint-nicolas included in final kilometres, along final climb finish in ans. move implied profound changes character of race, climbers strong uphill-sprint in recent years wait until final stretches launch ultimate attack.


the route has minor changes every year, climbs skipped , others added, traditional finale containing côte de la redoute, côte de la roche-aux-faucons , côte de saint-nicolas has remained fixture since 1990s.
