he man date win both bdo , pdc world championships @ first attempt. priestley won 1991 bdo title in first appearance in main draw of lakeside event, while won inaugural pdc world professional darts championship in 1994.


he first man average on 100 in world championship final, when averaged 101.48 in 1996 wdc world championship final in 4-6 loss taylor, despite taylor s average being high 98.52.


in 1992, priestley entered 1993 embassy world championship number-one seed. in first-round tie against jocky wilson, set new record highest match average (102.6) @ championship, stood until 2004. in autobiography, bobby dazzler, bobby george recalled that, during same championship, played priestley in best of nine-leg practice match. priestley had dart perfect 9-dart finish in every leg en-route recording 5-0 win using total of 49 darts (10, 10, 10, 10, , 9). george stated that, although practice match, greatest lakeside performance has ever seen , disappointed priestley s surprise 2nd-round defeat steve beaton cost him substantial wager had understandably placed on priestley winning second embassy title.

priestley held number-one spot in pdc world rankings between november 1994 , april 1995 , seeded number-one wdc world championships of 1995 , 1997.


in 1997, priestley won british classic in blackpool, notable being first bdo event pdc players allowed enter - result of tomlin order - since 1993 split. priestley took pairs title taylor. @ around time, priestley took part in battle of champions contest mark resolution of dispute between governing bodies. in match-up of 1994 world champions, priestley comfortably defeated part 3-0 in sets.
