kevin dahlgren , veronika haroková had same grandparents, emigrated czechoslovakia following 1948 communist coup d état. during flight, left 6-year-old daughter ivana, veronika s mother, behind. initial plan out of country following escape failed , wasn t until 20 years later meet again, when ivana first met sister sandy, kevin dahlgren s mother, had been born in usa. veronika s , sandy s families in contact , started visiting each other after fall of communism in czechoslovakia in 1989.


haroks learned dahlgren s plan come czech republic couple of days in advance, when contacted them, saying had bought airplane ticket , expected them pick him @ airport. indeed, picked him in vienna, accommodated him in home , taking care of dahlgren, doesn t speak czech.


according authorities, dahlgren sent messages other people on day of killing. @ 8:33, supposedly sent sms (text message) harok family friend planned return us. canceled class student whom tutoring in english 2 hours later. @ 15:14, sent sms harok family friend saying family had left vienna , follow them there.


the authorities further claim dahlgren had been boasting having managed knife on board airplane brought him europe, , seen walking in vicinity of victims house knife in hand 2 days before killings.


dahlgren s former babysitter, shauna seymour, described him trouble-free person. according garry o dell, dahlgrens family friend, kevin denied responsibility murders. dahlgren claims went jogging , found bodies after returning house. scared own life, wanted away fast possible.
