the programs of can geo education aim foster geographic engagement in canada. in addition increasing emphasis on geography within school system, can geo education endeavours increase geographic literacy of canadians through formal k-12 education system.


giant floor maps

can geo education creates innovative educational resources teachers in k-12 education. since 2012, organization has been producing giant floor maps — themed maps printed on 11 metre 8 metre heavy-stock vinyl can walked on. teachers provided lesson plans educate students on map, , maps circulate canadian schools @ no cost them. current , past themes have included war of 1812, canada space (with canadian space agency), circular north pole map (with canadian museum of nature), country s national parks (with parks canada), , north america s animal migrations (with canadian wildlife federation).


canadian geographic challenge

the canadian geographic challenge (formerly great canadian geography challenge), established in 1995, longest-running canadian national student geography competition organized annually can geo education students grades 4 10. there 2 levels of competition — level 1 grades 4 6 @ school level only, , level 2 grades 7 10 offers students opportunity compete @ provincial , national levels. @ school level, students answer 90 geography-related questions. student succeeds in school takes online questionnaire, can move on provincial , national levels.
