on 24 june 1618 married count jacob de la gardie. after marriage, moved him swedish estonia, served governor, , lived him there 1619 until 1628. relationship between ebba brahe , de la gardie described happy, , couple had fourteen children. because of frequent absence of spouse in service given responsibility of family finances, , moved extensively between sweden , estonia manage family estates. in 1628, couple settled in sweden. ebba brahe became known extravagant way of living , taste luxury.


brahe played part @ royal court. in 1651, historian arnold johan messenius , son accused of having persuaded queen christina not marry use of witchcraft. such accusation not accepted noble, , accusation lead accusers being decapitated treason.


she favored son magnus gabriel, , said have spoiled him , attending career. proud on position favourite queen christina of sweden, , supported marriage queen cousin maria eufrosyne of pfalz. when magnus gabriel lost position favorite queen in 1653, ebba brahe fell upon knees before queen ask him forgive him, , sought of axel oxenstierna reinstate him in favor, though privately blamed oxenstierna party having caused fall of magnus gabriel. during minor regency of charles xi in 1660-1672, son magnus gabriel 1 of leading members , rulers of sweden. ebba brahe actively used influence on son put forward both own , various supplicants demands, recommendations , suggestions.


ebba brahe became known business person. widow, ebba brahe became 1 of many powerful female land holders, occupy significant place in local legends of sweden during 16th , 17th centuries, such barbro påle, sophia drake, margareta huitfeldt , margareta von ascheberg. became successful land holder, managed estates , expanded them. acquired new estates formerly danish province skåne, became swedish province in 1658 , had many large estates left behind danish nobility.


after husband s death in 1652 petitioned queen christina of sweden found city of jakobstad in finland, named in honor of late husband. street in jakobstad, ebba brahe esplanaden, has been named after her.
