the defender started career undrafted free agent, , signed san diego chargers undrafted free agent in 2006. played them until 2011. started 31 of 85 games, recording 241 tackles, 4 interceptions , 2 sacks.

on march 15, 2012, gregory signed new england patriots. on thanksgiving night—november 22, 2012—gregory had primary role in patriots victory on home-town team, new york jets. in game, gregory had interception, 2 recovered fumbles (one leading touchdown, during infamous butt-fumble play), 5 tackles, , 1 pass deflection. @ end of game, on national nbc broadcast, gregory awarded traditional thanksgiving award, along teammates tom brady , vince wilfork.
