a ancient mill site, mill presented king egbert of kent bishop beormond of rochester in 836. in 1100 valued @ £1. mill had fallen disrepair in fourteenth century, rebuilt bishop hamo hethe in 1322. surviving mill building has cast iron overshot waterwheel, 16 feet (4.88 m) diameter. corn mill.
