there have been few unsuccessful attempts participate in junior eurovision song contest. broadcasters participate, must member of ebu , register intention compete before deadline specified in rules of year s event. each participating broadcaster pays fee towards organisation of contest. should country withdraw contest after deadline, still need pay these fees, , may incur fine or temporary ban.


bosnia , herzegovina

bosnia , herzegovina 1 of nineteen countries applied enter junior eurovision song contest 2007. there maximum number of eighteen countries permitted perform, georgia, nineteenth country apply, unable participate. however, on 21 june 2007, announced bosnia , herzegovina had withdrawn contest, enabling georgia enter contest. once again in 2008, bosnia , herzegovina applied make debut @ contest along azerbaijan , israel, 3 countries withdrew before contest took place.


prior 2007, bosnia , herzegovina had broadcast junior eurovision song contest once in 2006. contest broadcast live in bosnia , herzegovina in 2008 , 2009. in 2011, bhrt organised delayed broadcast of contest.



germany

on 21 november 2002, germany drawn 1 of countries participate in junior eurovision song contest 2003, represented norddeutscher rundfunk (ndr), member of ard consortium. however, germany later withdrew contest. germany announced debuting in junior eurovision song contest 2004, in lillehammer, norway, on 8 june 2004, ndr announced not participating after all. prior 2015 contest, frank-dieter freiling, chairman of eurovision song contest reference group, stated despite support german children s television channel kika organize germany s participation, factors including age restrictions , broadcasting times made unsuitable. since italy s debut in 2014, member of eurovision song contest s big 5 has not participated in junior eurovision song contest.


despite never having participated in junior eurovision song contest, children s television channel ki.ka, subsidiary of ard, broadcast contest in 2003. in 2013, delegation sent ndr kiev, ukraine observe contest. following year, german broadcaster, zdf, sent delegation malta observe 2014 contest. ndr eurovision website eurovision.de provided livestream of 2015 , 2016 contests. thomas mohr commentated on both of these livestreams.



slovakia

on 21 november 2002, slovakia drawn 1 of countries participate in junior eurovision song contest 2003, represented slovenská televízia (stv). however, slovakia later announced withdraw contest.
