the group debuted in japan s michinoku pro wrestling promotion in late 1994 when sato, terry boy , shiryu introduced kai en tai. name kai en tai based on japan s first modern corporation, kaientai ( naval auxiliary force ), naval institution , paramilitary organization dedicated freeing japan feudal rule , protecting country s national sovereignty major player in introduction of meiji restoration. dick togo named faction kaientai in honor.


kai en tai had many high profile tag team matches before 2 of them changed names; sato became dick togo, terry boy became men s teioh while shiryu s name remained unchanged. stable s name changed kaientai deluxe , or kaientai dx short. later joined dream chasers (taka michinoku , shoichi funaki) new members. other members included hanzo nakajima, yoshihiro tajiri, gran hamada , super boy.


extreme championship wrestling

in 1997, taka michinoku, dick togo , terry boy had short stint in extreme championship wrestling bwo japan (also known bwo international ) , feuded fellow japanese team of great sasuke, gran hamada , gran naniwa. rivalry culminated @ ecw s first ever pay-per-view event barely legal 1997 team of sasuke, hamada , masato yakushiji (filling in injured gran naniwa) came out victorious. since then, kai en tai permanently adopt bwo colors of blue , white own.

kai en tai (with exception of shiryu, in wcw under real name, kaz hayashi) made first appearance in wwf night after wrestlemania xiv on march 30, 1998 episode of raw war. team dropped dx full title due existence of d-generation x in wwf. attacked taka michinoku — signed wwf earlier — because felt had become americanized since joining wwe until later rejoined them. kaientai referred announcers club kamikaze, new manager yamaguchi-san announced actual name upon arrival shortly afterwards.


their infamous wwf feud val venis, had porn star gimmick @ time. yamaguchi enraged when shown pornographic video of (onscreen) wife, sleeping venis, , threatened punish both of them. mrs. yamaguchi-san brought ring going spanking yamaguchi-san using wooden paddle, rescued venis. week later, venis had finished match, yamaguchi , kaientai showed salami on table. yamaguchi proceeded chop salami while shouting @ venis, choppy choppy pee pee!


the following week, venis teamed taka michinoku take on togo , funaki in tag team match. taka made swerve, however, turning against venis, proclaiming mrs. yamaguchi-san sister. venis dragged backstage kaientai have member amputated, though audience did not see happened next. venis returned after week, explained yamaguchi s sword narrowly missed genitalia, due lights being turned off john wayne bobbitt, broke relationship mrs. yamaguchi-san , ended feud.


after togo, teioh , both yamaguchis left wwf, michinoku , funaki began wrestling tag team using name kaientai. jobbers, best known evil! indeed! skits in bruce prichard dubbed english voices promos while badly lip-synced, taka ending comments evil! , funaki saying indeed! funaki , taka s last ever tag team partnership kaientai in wwf win on raven , justin credible on october 20, 2001 edition of wwf jakked.


michinoku left wwf. runs promotion called kaientai dojo (or k-dojo). funaki remained in wwf, finding niche part of smackdown cruiserweight division , backstage interviewer before being released contract in 2010 after 12 years company. however, has since been re-hired , serves member of japanese commentary team.

with occasion of michinoku pro s 10th anniversary on november 2, 2003, kaientai dx reformed, dick togo, men s teioh, taka michinoku, shiryu , hanzo nakajima took down jinsei shinzaki, hayate, kesen numa-jiro, kazuya yuasa , chi-nen hokkai.


independent circuit

on july 15, 2005, kaientai reunion took place @ kaientai dojo, when taka michinoku teamed sho funaki, dick togo , men s teioh battle kengo mashimo, kazma, ryota chikuzen , kunio toshima. although kaientai came short of defeating opposing team, emotional moment , crowd showed support after match.


kaientai reunited once again on 2006 new year s eve indie summit show taka michinoku, sho funaki, kaz hayashi, dick togo , men s teioh defeated makoto oishi, kudo, katsuya kishi, shinjitsu nohashi , milanito collection a.t. kaientai team claimed victory after togo hit oishi diving aenton. on january 25, 2007, taka michinoku, men s teioh , dick togo appeared in dragon gate take on team of cima, bxb hulk , matt sydal.
