the mask constructed tony gardner, same man built infamous ghostface mask every scream film, , design personal. landon explains, during preproduction... expecting first son. don t know if had babies on brain, or if subsconciously scared become father, baby image floating around in head. tony made pig mask, too, when wore baby mask in office, scared co-worker, , thought... yeah, it. one. christopher landon inspired films such groundhog day, scream (1996), halloween (1978), sixteen candles, future, e.t. extra-terrestrial, goonies, gremlins, american tale, innerspace, tucker & dale vs. evil, black christmas (1974) , heathers.

the film first announced in july 2007, megan fox attached star. film titled half death, , produced michael bay. years later, on october 11, 2016, blumhouse productions announced jessica rothe had been cast in lead role of film, christopher b. landon writing , directing, , jason blum producing. on november 8, 2016, announced ruby modine, charles aitken , rachel matthews had joined cast, alongside rothe , israel broussard.


writing

in original draft of scott lobdell, lori , gregory killers together. landon says, psycho couple murdering tree together. didn’t work me. thought gregory great opportunity suspect. make him killer, didn t me. change wanted make. also, in original draft there no birthday.


filming

filming took place @ , around loyola university in new orleans, louisiana, , lasted 5 weeks. scenes tree awakens in carter s bed after death filmed back in span of 2 days.
