at 1992 iaaf world cross country championships, radcliffe, took junior title, beating wang junxia , gete wami in boston, after recovering bad asthma attack in weeks beforehand. radcliffe went junior track world championships , finished fourth in 3,000 metres. in first senior race, in durham @ start of 1993, radcliffe finished second olympic champion derartu tulu. @ age of 19 radcliffe finished in seventh place @ 1993 world championships. radcliffe claimed back world cross challenge wins @ durham , mallusk start 1994 season. radcliffe missed world cross country championships foot injury. radcliffe misdiagnosed injury forced miss of 1994 , thought quitting injury not better. @ fanny blankers-koen games in hengelo in 1995 radcliffe outkicked tulu run third fastest time british woman 5,000 metres. @ world championships, radcliffe qualified comfortably final of 5,000 metres, finished fifth. @ 1996 securicor games radcliffe ran 5,000 metres finishing second. olympic games saw radcliffe finished fifth in 5,000 metres. radcliffe rounded off 1996 finishing third in cross country race in durham.
