nabi rubin located in region targeted haganah´s operation lightning (mivtza barak) during 1948 arab–israeli war, aimed force arab inhabitants move. during 10–12 may 1948, units of ephraim sub-district, apparently without success, repeatedly mortared , raided nabi rubin, aim of forcing evacuation.


on june 1, 1948, israel s giv ati brigade captured village in second stage of operation barak. upon capture, of inhabitants expelled, except few stayed until harvest season collect oranges, later expelled. on 24 august, giv ati brigade hq issued order mivtza nikayon (operation cleaning), aiming @ ´cleansing [letaher]´the newly conquered area included nabi rubin. armed units destroyed, , arab civilians expelled. operation took place on 28 august, , killed 10 arabs, wounded 3 , captured 3 . there no idf casualties.


according salman abu-sitta, in 1998, there 10,116 palestinian refugees nabi rubin or descendants.

the shrine of al-nabi rubin stands amid shrubs , other wild vegetation. minaret has 3 lancet-arched entrances stands @ 1 end of it. number of minor shrines built of large stones remain. near shrine deserted, free-standing cement structure consists of single, box-shaped room.
