malleson born constance mary annesley on 24 october 1895 @ castlewellan castle in castlewellan, northern ireland. youngest child of hugh annesley, 5th earl annesley , second wife priscilla cecilia armytage-moore. annesley s sister, lady clare annesley, feminist , pacifist stood labour party parliamentary candidate in 1920s , 1930s. had 2 half siblings, lady mabel annesley , francis annesley, 6th earl annesley, father s first marriage mabel wilhelmina frances markham. malleson home schooled tutors until father s death in 1908, @ time sent down house in kent. unimpressed school, referred in 1931 autobiography, after ten, damned hell , demonstrating contempt aristocratic decorum.
