during sebastian s short personal reign, strengthened ties holy roman empire, england , france through diplomatic efforts. restructured of administrative, judicial , military life in kingdom. in 1568, sebastian created scholarships assist students wished study medicine or pharmacy @ university of coimbra.

in concern widows , orphans of killed plague, created several recolhimentos (shelters) known recolhimento de santa marta (shelter of santa marta) , recolhimento dos meninos (shelter of children) , provided wet nurses take care of babies.


legal reforms
