when bbc tested power of tyrannosaurus jaws in program truth killer dinosaurs (2005), hydraulic skull model based on stan s skull measures 1.40 meters long , best preserved t rex skull. gregory erickson estimated bite power, , came conclusion tyrannosaurus have had bite force of 6.8 tonnes, or 60,000 newtons. stan has been used studies involving restoration of dinosaurs body mass , study on how have moved.


like many other fossils of tyrannosaurus rex, skeleton of stan shows many broken , healed bones. these include broken ribs , damages in skull. 1 of prominent injuries in neck , skull. piece of bone missing @ rear, , skull bears hole 1 inch wide, made tyrannosaurus. also, 2 of cervical vertebrae fused, , has additional bone growth. have been caused tyrannosaurus bite. bite marks healed, indicating stan survived wounds. stan have been infected trichomonas-like parasites.
