there 1 final widening project worked on in 2005, time located in bannockburn. east of illinois 43 half mile, illinois 22 widened 4 lanes while in process nearby bridge replaced.


beginning in 2008, bridge replacement , expansion project got underway on illinois 22 @ interchange interstate 94. necessary tollway travels underneath widened 8 lanes. old bridge, 5 lanes wide, rebuilt 1 8 lanes , includes full length dual left turn lanes in both directions. other benefits improved entrances , exits , interstate, modernized traffic signals, , use of concrete pavement. bulk of work completed december 2009, both sets of dual left turn lanes not in operation until following spring.


in august 2009, construction began on intersection expansion project @ milwaukee avenue in lincolnshire. outdated design gap in stretch of completed roadwork in surrounding area. improvements on illinois 22 have widened east–west approaches @ major intersection 5 lanes, new additions being dual left turn lanes right turn lanes. new lanes opened first time on october 15, 2010.


in 2011, 2.1 mile, $13.2 million project in bannockburn , highland park got underway. extended east of i-94 west of us-41, exception of small section worked on in 2005. il-22 reconstructed , widened 4 lanes other smaller improvements along way, including concrete pavement , dual left turn lanes @ il-43. new lanes opened end of 2012, landscaping , finishing work carrying 2013.
