rally deutschland entirely held on asphalt. significant part of attraction originates in mixture of track characteristics encountered throughout three-day period. setup has earned description of 3 rallies in 1 .


the vineyard stages consist of tight , twisted support roads, short straights , hairpins in steep mountains surrounding moselle. fans particularly stages because of close proximity cars, sitting on small walls , in between vines, less 2m ideal line. however, layout has raised serious concerns fia regarding spectator safety. in 2008, final stage of leg 1 cancelled after many fans trying make way through vineyards.
