dvv coburg formed in 2000, when vfb coburg merged local side djk/viktoria coburg (which established in 1974 in merger of fc viktoria 09 coburg, formed 1909, , djk rot-weiß coburg, formed 1931). dvv s predecessor vfb far outstanding, spending 21 seasons in tier 3 fußball-bayernliga 1952 1984. club made single appearance in german cup in 1977–78, losing 3–0 @ fellow amateurs tus langerwehe go on reach fourth round.


despite dvv s initial success, in 2011, affected financial trouble, club relegated bezirksoberliga club played final season in bezirksoberliga in 2011–12 dvv , disbanded @ end of season.


on 4 august 2011, dissolution of dvv on 30 june 2012 approved. season of football teams continued until then. on 8 september 2011, fc coburg founded, took on players , licensing, youth academy of dvv. season 2012/13 teams of fc coburg in leagues in last had played corresponding teams of dvv. new club, fc coburg, given permission take on league places of dvv in senior , youth football.


the club has continued dvv s traditions , still attempting promotion bezirksliga oberfranken west, 7th tier of german football, hoping emulate vfb s former glory. fc dismissed coach michael eberhardt in november 2014 despite comfortably leading league, citing disrupted relationship between coach , team 1 of reasons.


the club won bezirksliga in 2014–15 , won promotion landesliga bayern-nordwest.
