missoula architect c. j. forbis ushered in new campus building phase in 1935 construction of student union. building’s placement , modern art deco façade broke ranks renaissance revival style called in old carsley-gilbert campus master plan. old plan had contained no such facility, , new building sited contrary previous symmetrical campus arrangement. serves fine arts building.
