the squad turned in decent ride in stage 2 team time trial, finishing ninth of 22 teams. result installed vinokourov 27th place, 32 seconds off race lead. vinokourov took third in stage 4 on mûr-de-bretagne, 1 of ten riders finish @ front of race. moved 6 places 18th result. in stage 8 on super besse, vinokourov , team sky s juan antonio flecha put in attack constituted clear bid take yellow jersey. starting day 32 seconds of race leader thor hushovd, vinokourov surged past flecha , remaining members of morning breakaway other eventual stage winner rui costa. occupied second position on road, holding sufficient time gap take race leadership, until reabsorbed depleted front peloton , finished @ of group. result did, however, move vinokourov 11th.

despite vinokourov s hopes upon crashing out of race squad continue combative, did not attain noteworthy results on remainder of tour. grivko , fofonov took top-ten stage placings breakaways in stages 16 , 17, did not come close winning either day, finishing tenth , sixth respectively , on minute off winner s time both days. vaitkus finished eighth on champs-Élysées stage close out tour. squad s best-placed rider in final overall standings di gregorio in 39th place, hour , 22 minutes off tour winner cadel evans time.
