history
founding

the atlanta corpsvets started simple idea of robin , tracey wofford , tom , janet walsh in conjunction american legion post #1 in summer of 1997. woffords attended senior corps show in wisconsin, , felt time right atlanta have own corps. after returning atlanta, robin created name corpsvets , , initial outline of corps sketched. robin , tracey contacted friends , contacts of drum corps days , began recruiting @ local drum corps event held @ jacksonville state university. woffords , walshes met night, , collaborated bring corps being. many signed further information, , first interest meeting held @ american legion post 1 in late fall, 1997. first rehearsal of corps in january 1998, basics block rehearsals conducted throughout piedmont park. first performance @ 1998 st. patrick s day parade in atlanta.


that summer, corps boasted membership of 44 performers, , performed exhibitions @ local dci competition marched in wsb-tv salute 2 america parade in downtown atlanta. final performance inaugural season @ drum corps associates championship in allentown, pennsylvania several members represented corps in individual , ensemble competition. have participated in atlanta st. patrick s day parade, wsb-tv salute 2 america parade , @ local dci competitions in georgia, alabama , south carolina


growth , results

in 1999 corps grew 55 members , traveled dca championships, placing 4th in mini-corps competition. growth continued in 2000, corps featuring 56 members , placing second @ dca championships in class division. in 2001 corpsvets grew 65 members , won class title @ dca championships record score in division.


the following year, 2002, corps grew 94 members, advanced highly competitive open class division of dca , tied 11th place @ championships. since 2002 corps has competed in open class attaining finalist status each season fielding corps of on 100 members.


in 2012 corps shorten name atlanta cv drum , bugle corps, adopting cv moniker used refer corpsvets . rebranding helped eliminate misconception member must vet of corps in order participate, never case.


the corps highest placement coincides highest score, set @ 2017 dca championships finals, score of 96.63 , 2nd place overall. 10 time dca south champions , highest placing , highest scoring southern corps in dca history. complete history follows:

in addition competitive performances, corps has hosted educational clinics local high school music students, performed @ july 4 stage show in centennial olympic park, opened southeastern emmy awards show, , performed national anthem georgia force , rome braves. corps has marched in old soldier s day parade in alpharetta, georgia, july 4 parade in avondale estates, georgia, wsb salute 2 america parade, barnum festival parade in bridgeport, ct, atlanta st. patrick s day parade, , georgia mountain fair parade in hiawassee.
