1st patrol
the boat s first patrol began departure kiel on 7 february 1942. headed atlantic ocean west of ireland via gap between faroe , shetland islands. docked @ lorient in occupied france, on 1 march.
2nd patrol
for second sortie, sailed caribbean, sinking como rico on 4 april 1942, 225 nmi (417 km; 259 mi) north of st. juan, in puerto rico. success continued sinking of catahoula, delvalle, empire amethyst , vineland, near haiti , dominican republic.
3rd, 4th , 5th patrols
her third patrol saw cross atlantic once more. sank tillie lykes on 28 june 1942, 100 nmi (190 km; 120 mi) south of santo domingo in dominican republic , lalita, using deck gun, in yucatán channel on 6 july.
one of boat s victims on this, fourth patrol, nurmahal. sunk on 9 november 1942 300 nmi (560 km; 350 mi) east of martinique in less thirty seconds. tower grange, sunk 250 nmi (460 km; 290 mi) off cayenne in french guiana.
having made short trip lorient brest, submarine s fifth foray longest (109 days) , second successful. amongst many others, attacked florida. although ship had broken on 28 may 1943, repaired.
6th, 7th , 8th patrols , loss
she departed on patrol number 6 on 2 october 1943. u-154 attacked unidentified pby catalina flying boat on 3 november; twice attacked on 22nd. none caused damage. boat returned lorient on 20 december.
she attacked on 13 march 1944, possibly navy patrol boat pc 469 north of panama canal; minor damage sustained. u-154 engaged on 29th of same month colombian navy destroyer caldas. returned france, again lorient, on 28 april 1944.
u-154 sunk destroyers uss inch , frost northwest of madeira on 3 july 1944.
