the eastlake style palms-southern pacific railroad depot building situated approximately 600 yards (550 m) west of present station location, on south side of tracks, , remained in active rail service until closure of pacific electric air line in 1953.
used in many motion pictures, building fell disrepair , abandonment, declared los angeles historic-cultural monument in 1963. grassroots organization, s.o.s. (save our station), moved in february 1976 heritage square museum grounds in montecito heights community of arroyo seco. serves museum s gift shop , visitor center.
