it @ battle bartosz gained fame: first reach enemy lines, , stopped 1 of cannons shooting extinguishing fuse cap. deed, pro-uprising rhetoric, kościuszko promoted him rank of chorąży in newly created regiment of cracow s grenadiers (grenadierzy krakowscy). released serfdom, , received right land, not ennobled. surname changed peasant bartosz głowacki, although not whether own choice, or whether name bestowed upon him kościuszko himself.


on june 6, 1794, głowacki took part in battle of szczekociny. polish forces, 15,000 strong, defeated combined prussian , russian army, 27,000 strong. głowacki among 346 polish wounded evacuated battle, wounds serious, , died afterwards (sometime between june 6 , june 9). buried in church of najjaśniejsza maria panna in kielce on june 9.
