le vann superintendent of provincial training school twenty-five years. did break tenure in 1951 ten-month period clinical director of western state hospital in kentucky, usa. in 1971 conservative party of alberta won election. after, repealed sexual sterilization act of alberta. had immense impact on school, closing wards , tearing down dorms . in 1974, dr. leonard jan le vann resigned facility. old provincial training school closed , renamed michener center. of 2009 michener center supports 274 adults providing impressive range of recreational, social, residential, spiritual , health services.
