early career

poje took ice dancing @ age 7 , skated in singles until 13. in career, competed alexandra nino, whom 2001 canadian novice silver medalist. teamed alice graham in late spring 2004. trained in kitchener-waterloo coaches paul macintosh, rebecca babb, susie mcgrigor, , bernie ford. won bronze medal on junior level @ 2005 canadian championships , placed 9th @ senior level @ 2006 canadian championships.


2006–2010

poje teamed american-born kaitlyn weaver in august 2006. trained in kitchener-waterloo, ontario under coach paul macintosh.


weaver/poje competed on 2006–07 isu junior grand prix, winning 2 bronze medals. went 2007 canadian championships , won bronze medal in first season together. placed on team 2007 junior worlds. weaver dislocated left shoulder in warm-up before original dance able compete , couple won bronze medal. placed 20th @ 2007 world championships.


in 2007–08 season, weaver/poje competed on senior grand prix series @ 2008 skate canada international, placed 6th, , @ 2007 trophée eric bompard, placed 7th. won silver medal @ 2008 canadian championships, placed 5th @ 2008 4 continents, , 17th @ 2008 world championships. in january 2008, moved toronto train new coach shae-lynn bourne.


in 2008–09 season, weaver/poje competed on grand prix series @ 2008 cup of china, placed 6th, , @ 2008 nhk trophy, placed 7th. won bronze medal @ 2009 canadian championships , placed 5th @ 2009 4 continents. weaver granted canadian citizenship in june 2009. advised bourne needed more competitive atmosphere, switched training bases in 2009 detroit skating club in bloomfield hills, michigan coached pasquale camerlengo , anjelika krylova. continue work bourne. massimo scali, natalia annenko, , elizabeth punsalan members of coaching team in michigan.


during 2009–10 season, weaver/poje won first grand prix medal, bronze @ 2009 skate canada international. won bronze @ 2010 canadian championships. sent 2010 4 continents won gold medal. did not qualify olympic or world team.


2010–present

during 2010–11 season, weaver/poje won silver medals @ 2010 nhk trophy , 2011 canadian championships. qualified first grand prix final, finished 5th. fourth @ 2011 4 continents. sent 2011 world championships , placed 5th, significant improvement on previous best result of 17th @ event.


in 2011–12 season, weaver/poje chose free dance music on suggestion of anonymous fan. karl hugo composed additional music add greater variation program. weaver/poje competed @ 3 grand prix events , won 3 silver medals. took bronze medal @ 2012 4 continents before ending season @ 2012 world championships, placed fourth.


for 2012–13 season, weaver/poje decided go in new direction , asked contemporary dancer, allison holker, work them on free dance. began season winning gold @ 2012 ondrej nepela memorial. weaver/poje s grand prix assignments 2012 skate america , 2012 cup of china. @ both events, second in short , third in free dance , won bronze medal overall behind russians ekaterina bobrova / dmitri soloviev.


weaver fractured left fibula on december 14, 2012 when fell boards during training in bloomfield hills, michigan, , underwent surgery on december 18 in toronto. result, duo withdrew 2013 canadian championships. hoping compete @ worlds, poje continued train in michigan, krylova acting partner, while weaver recovered in toronto. in mid-february, weaver/poje added canada s world team. placed fifth @ 2013 world championships in london, ontario.


in 2013–14 season, weaver/poje won 2 silver medals on grand prix series , placed fifth @ grand prix final. after taking silver @ 2014 canadian championships, selected represent canada @ 2014 winter olympics in sochi, finished seventh. @ 2014 world championships in saitama, japan, weaver/poje placed second in short dance , third in free dance. finishing 0.02 of point behind italy s cappellini/lanotte , 0.04 ahead of france s pechalat/bourzat, ended competition silver medalists.


in 2014–15 season, weaver/poje took gold @ both of grand prix assignments, 2014 skate canada international , 2014 nhk trophy. in december 2014, won grand prix final in barcelona, having ranked first in both segments ahead of united states madison chock / evan bates. again defeated chock/bates @ 4 continents championships, held in seoul in february 2015. weaver/poje third in short dance first in free dance, en route second 4 continents title. capped off season bronze medal @ 2015 world figure skating championships.


at beginning of 2015–16 season, weaver/poje placed first @ 2015 finlandia trophy. however, received feedback judges elvis presley medley did not have clear rhythm required short dance. changed music set of johann strauss ii pieces , won 2015 skate canada international 3 weeks later. team went on win 2015 rostelecom cup second consecutive gold @ 2015–16 grand prix of figure skating final.


in second half of 2015–16 season, weaver/poje won second consecutive national title , finished third @ 2016 4 continents figure skating championships following month. team capped of season fifth-place finish @ 2016 world figure skating championships.
