in june 2013, in 16–3 vote, metro council approved ordinance allowing city purchase colonial gardens property. city subsequently sold property local developer underhill associates $1 , gave $1.2 million toward property s redevelopment.


in 2017, underhill slated begin construction on $5 million redevelopment of colonial gardens , surrounding property, including renovating 7,000 square feet (650 m) in original building, demolishing 1939 addition, , building 2 new one-story buildings. these buildings used house 3 or 4 restaurants, developer prefers locally owned , mid-priced.
