december 2004 - undercover journalist reportedly entered restricted areas , walked unchecked , unnoticed around passenger aircraft due take off london heathrow airport. journalist entered british airways offices , other out-of-bounds areas @ london airport housed confidential security documents.
april 2007 - medical training application service (mtas) on-line application system selection of junior doctors, , allocating them jobs in uk. personal details (including phone numbers, home addresses , sexual orientation) of junior doctors became publicly available several hours right url. reported applicants had been able see each other s files changing 2 digits in personalised web address given each individual, , mtas system suspended.
july 2007 - newcastle city council admitted personal data , payment card details of 54,000 local residents had been downloaded insecure server ip address outside country. stolen data included names, addresses , card details transactions between february 2006 , april 2007, payment of council tax, business rates, parking fines or council housing rent.
october 2007 - laptop containing sensitive financial details of 400 customers of several financial institutions stolen car of majesty s revenue , customs employee earlier month laptop protected complex password , top level encryption . theft involved printout of names , financial details.
november 2007 - 2 discs containing information on 25 million british citizens disappeared after being sent through courier used majesty s revenue , customs office. junior bureaucrat sent discs in post majesty s revenue , customs national audit office in london. discs believed contain names, addresses, dates of birth, national insurance numbers , in cases banking details 25 million adults , children.
