for undergraduate students of main campus, karachi, 5 hostels provided. 1 girls hostel , 4 boys hostels serve dormitories undergraduate students of faculty of engineering science , technology, faculty of easter medicine, faculty of management sciences , faculty of health , medical sciences. hostels in vicinity of main campus, madinat al-hikmah are:



a five-storey girls hostel (25°05′19″n 67°00′27″e / 25.088572°n 67.007523°e / 25.088572; 67.007523)
two two-storey , 1 five-storey boys hostel (25°05′01″n 67°00′47″e / 25.083539°n 67.013017°e / 25.083539; 67.013017)

to accommodate increasing number of students, 1 building acquired on lease in 2011. dormitory serves boys hostel , in 4-k chowrangi, north karachi, 14 kilometres main campus.

the students-teachers centre (stc) central cafeteria of main campus, provides food , facility student-teacher interaction. cafeterias , teashops on other campuses.

transportation students, faculty , staff members between main campus , different parts of city provided fleet of university-owned , on-contract vehicles include buses, coasters, hiaces , mini-vans.

bait al-hikmah, named after famous library, house of wisdom in baghdad, central library of hamdard university s main, karachi campus. houses on half million modern volumes thousands of ancient manuscripts, millions of clippings, translations of quran in on 60 languages, a.v. cassettes, postage stamps, coins , photographs of hamdard university/foundation activities, making 1 of largest libraries in south asia.


the foundation-stone of bait al-hikmah laid on 17 june 1985 then-president of islamic republic of pakistan, general muhammad zia-ul-haq. established hakim mohammed said, founder of madinat al-hikmah, humanitarian , philanthropist. after completion of bait al-hikmah first major , important institution of madinat al-hikmah, hakim said invited then-president ghulam ishaq khan inaugurate library on 11 december 1989.


the bait al-hikmah central library , center academic research used students, faculties, researchers, scholars , freelancers nationally , internationally. computerised.


the collection of bait al-hikmah library ranges books , journals, covering science , technology, medicine, management sciences, indo-pakistan history, islam , religion, traditional/alternative systems of medicine, social sciences , jurisprudence, literature in urdu, english, arabic , persian.

initiated in 2011, book bank (available students of hamdard institute of information technology) provides students reference- , text-books minimal fee of rs. 50/book (equivalent usd 0.5) duration of semester (which lasts 6 months). student of hiet can register book bank free of cost , registration remains effective maximum duration of 4 years (or until completion of degree in student enrolled).
