5th light horse regiment @ left bank outpost april 1918


this defensive position covered bridge , consisted of trenching , barbed wire , covered guns western bank. 1st light horse brigade heavily attacked @ 04:00 ottoman 48th division. pushed forward within 100 yards (91 m) of line heavily shelled covering artillery , @ 12:30 regiment of light horse rode out , attacked flank. several attempts ottoman army send forward reinforcements defeated british gunners. during night ottoman soldiers withdrew.


the british section guns on pimple , other 100 yards (91 m) left old road ghoraniyeh crossing leading straight our gun on pimple. @ dawn large , close formation of ottoman soldiers advanced straight @ pimple gun opened fire supported light horse hotchkiss light machine guns on right. although action did not end hours first 10 minutes decided it.
