in 2013, hozier released ep take me church (also containing real people , angel of small death & codeine scene , live version of cherry wine ), title track becoming breakthrough single after went viral on youtube. reached number 1 on itunes on 25 october 2013. hozier followed take me church new ep eden (also containing work song , arsonist s lullabye , live version of alone ), , number of festival tour dates , television appearances in united states. hozier released self-titled album, hozier on 19 september 2014. featured 5 singles, including take me church , work song , , eden , hits on earlier eps. on 5 december 2014, announced take me church nominated @ 57th annual grammy awards song of year in 2015.


he performed victoria s secret fashion show 2014, saturday night live, , late night seth meyers.


he nominated grammy award , performed take me church annie lennox @ 2015 grammy awards.


he performed single take me church @ 2015 billboard music awards.


in june 2015, sang recessional hymn @ funeral of olivia burke, 21-year-old irish j-1 visa student killed along 5 others when apartment balcony collapsed in berkeley, california. same month, played glastonbury festival.


on 12 november 2015, won vh1 artist of year, based on fan votes. performed take me church , beatles blackbird singer tori kelly.


in 2016, released video song cherry wine raise awareness of domestic violence. on 4 april 2016, performed song on late late show james corden.


in june 2016, announced new song better love . song part of legend of tarzan soundtrack , released official video.
