during 2002 mombasa attacks, suicide-bomber terrorists struck entrance of israeli-owned paradise hotel. fifteen people killed, 3 of them israelis, when car bomb exploded outside lobby of hotel. terrorists fired 2 hand-held rockets @ israeli airliner, had lifted off moi international airport in mombassa 264 passengers on board. israel evacuated citizens kenya.


in 2003, kenya requested israel s in developing national solar energy strategy. roads, public works , housing minister raila odinga said: israel has solar energy standards committee dealing setting of solar energy equipment around world , need in setting such equipment in kenya. while speaking during audience new israeli ambassador kenya, emmanuel seri, raila reiterated need enhance existing economic ties between 2 countries , asked israel provide more development aid , kenya draw , execute effective national disaster management scheme. seri told kenyan minister government intended enhance existing economic ties, saying [w]e want enhance our trade relations kenya more kenyans can visit israel , business.


in 2006, israel sent search-and-rescue team kenya when building collapsed. eighty disaster , medical relief people left tel aviv nairobi, people trapped in rubble when multistory building collapsed.


following kenyan presidential election, 2007, there rioting, , israel came aid of kenyans donating medicine moi teaching , referral hospital in eldoret.


in 2010, kenya began seeking purchase of israeli weapons, include counterinsurgency systems , unmanned aerial vehicles border surveillance. in 2011, 2 countries signed treaty cooperate in fighting against terrorism, money laundering, , other crime.


in 2013, israel sent troops give assistance kenyan forces fighting somali islamist terrorists attacked westgate shopping mall in nairobi. israeli agencies helped kenya investigate attack, killed @ least 72 people.
