of 17 ef class locomotives in service, 9 painted in livery other original international orange scheme introduced in:



10 in international orange ( fruit salad )
1 in tranz rail blue ( cato blue )
3 in tranz rail black ( bumble-bee )
6 in kiwirail

the remaining 3 locomotives not in operational service (efs 30065, 30128 , 30186) presently painted in international orange scheme. no efs ever painted in toll rail corn cob scheme.


the rust removal , repaint new kiwirail scheme began in september 2009 30163, followed 30059 in february 2010, 30134 in march 2010, 30249 in april 2010, 30226 in july 2010 , 30203 in september 2014. expected remaining units rebranded in kiwirail livery go through extended maintenance. far, kiwirail repainting has been done @ hutt workshops, means locomotives must towed (as part of diesel hauled freight service) , wellington. units painted in international orange have road numbers displayed in large type in centre of body (with exception of ef 30007), while other schemes have them in smaller type on cabs.
