on july 5, 1997, 2 fishermen found rachel s body in oxford lake chained cinder blocks , face wrapped copiously duct tape. according coroner, alive when entered lake , died drowning.


gabrion s whereabouts unknown, became prime suspect in death. search warrant executed residence , keys matched padlock used secure rachel s body found @ gabrion s home along concrete blocks stained same paint ones retrieved lake. marvin s nephew, mikey gabrion, led police campsite had been used uncle. gabrion s tent found there, along bolt cutters, chain, duct tape, woman s hair clip, , nipples baby bottle.


gabrion s neighbors interviewed police. reported gabrion had handyman named john weeks, hadn t been seen around property in few weeks. investigators contacted weeks girlfriend, identified photo of gabrion man introduced lance . reported lance had left area weeks , hadn t heard him , unsure of how hold of him. reported police on 1 occasion caught john on phone girl named rachel. when confronted him, told trying favor lance, interested in being set her. authorities believe weeks mystery date picked rachel , shannon on day last seen , arranged date @ behest of gabrion.


the search gabrion lasted 2 months until received tip gabrion set receive social security check post office in sherman, new york. fbi agents covertly staked out location , arrested left post office.


timmerman s daughter, shannon, has never been found.
