Lifeboat station Porthdinllaen



in 19th century, north wales lacked roads, , sea easiest way access many places. porthdinllaen, on northern coast of llŷn peninsula, sheltered north facing bay, became important harbour of refuge , busy port, on 700 ships passing through port in 1861. after storms in 1863, local parish priest wrote royal national lifeboat institution request lifeboat positioned in harbour.


the boat shed , slip commissioned in 1864. manned since, current coxswain mike davies, has served coxswain since 2004.


the current tyne class lifeboat hetty rampton , in service since 27 april 1987, being replaced new tamar class lifeboat john d spicer .
