the cocos fire burning above csu san marcos, on may 14, 2014


the cocos fire, known twin oaks fire, wildfire ignited on may 14 in san marcos, in hills south of california state university, san marcos. cocos fire spread western escondido. fire destroyed more 40 buildings, including dozen single-family homes. property damage fire estimated @ more $5.7 million. 3 minor injuries reported. cocos fire extinguished on may 22, 2014.
