Transport Holmfirth



holmfirth used have own branch line, off huddersfield sheffield line (commonly referred penistone line), short, 2 mile (3 km), line branched mainline south of brockholes. viaduct took line across valley , thongsbridge station sited. line went along side of valley coming halt outside town centre on station road. plans did exist line extended valley , tunnel under black hill join sheffield manchester line near woodhead. line closed passengers in 1959, goods traffic lasting until 1965. station building , platform still remain private house. other sections of line further down valley have been sold off private housing , viaduct, crossing valley a616 (new mill road), @ brockholes, on spring wood, has been demolished.

holmfirth bus station located in centre of holmfirth regular bus services take varying routes around outlying villages , huddersfield s bus , railway stations. additional services run town, barnsley, sheffield , wakefield via denby dale or penistone. services operated first calderdale & huddersfield, using town s bus station. weekend , bank holiday services operate glossop in north derbyshire. in october 2006, first bus services re-branded holmfirth connection .
