parnell, samberg, schaffer, , taccone wrote lazy sunday on evening of december 12, 2005. recorded following night in office lonely island occupied using laptop taccone bought on craigslist. while colleagues rehearsing , rewriting saturday s show, group spent morning of december 15 shooting video borrowed camera. video used upright citizens brigade theater in chelsea stand in multiplex cinema , taccone s girlfriend s sister, comic emily heller, play convenience-store clerk. schaffer spent entire next night (into morning) editing video , working technicians bring broadcast standards. in moments preceding show s live performance , broadcast, team learned michaels lazy sunday shown on night s show. 3 comedians worried how video received studio audience.
