ijima cirumscribed staurocalyptus genus in family rossellidae. initial taxonomy included 3 newly described species , 2 transferred rhabdocalyptus. ijimi did not designate type species; in 1967 v. m. koltun designated rhabdocalyptus dowlingi lambe, 1893 type species. 2002 revision of rossellidae k. r. tabachnick demoted staurocalyptus subgenus of acanthascus , designated new type species: staurocalyptus glaber ijima, 1897. however, of 2017, worms still classifies staurocalyptus genus , follows koltun s type species designation, not of tabachnick.
