church mill 1 of 2 mills in maidstone owned christ church, canterbury. may 1 of 5 domesday mills recorded in maidstone. church mill standing in 1572. william purtis/purlis miller in 1752, renewing lease on mill in year. inventory @ time showed church mill had 2 pairs of french burr millstones , 1 pair of peak millstones. marked on brown & son s survey of maidstone, 1821. mill demolished in 1903 part of road widening scheme. millpond survives.
