cumbria scout county concurrent political county of cumbria, , provides scouting opportunities young people , adults in area around english lake district, including town of barrow-in-furness, , city of carlisle.

rawnsley shield

the rawnsley shield annual competition scouts in reivers district in cumbria scout county. starting in 1920s roots go canon hardwicke rawnsley donated shield scouting. format of competition changes every year , has been: camp, marked on activities; walk talkin tarn gelt wood , activities @ talkin tarn; or, recently, pioneering contest. current winners of rawnsley shield 25th carlisle.

alderley district scout band

alderley district scout band, formed in 1963 1 bugle , drum, traditional marching , display band in based in wilmslow, cheshire. in alderley scout district of cheshire scout county. band takes part in competitions under tymba traditional youth marching bands association (tymba) , british youth band association (byba) rules, winning on 500 trophies including many supreme champions.


in 1984 , 1994 band invited play @ windsor castle in front of respectively majesty queen , duchess of kent. have appeared in royal tournament, on television, in london parade, lord’s mayor of manchester’s parade , toured netherlands in 1992 , belgium in 1995.


by 2000, band has declined under 10 members, 3 of whom under 25, , no longer compete. new members recruited , october 2003 began competing again in competitions within tymba, , @ local parades , fetes . in 2007, centenary year of scouting, band joined 1st syston scout , guide band perform @ national scout st george s day parade @ windsor castle in front of queen. in november 2008 band crowned national champions @ tymba national finals, 10 years since had last won top award.


cheshire water activities

cheshire water activities independent organisation supports scouting in cheshire. activities team provide training of leaders, , supervision of young people, in various water activities including kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, power boating, , offshore sailing.


east lancashire scout county

east lancashire scout county covers industrial towns of east lancashire.

greater manchester east scout county

greater manchester east scout county 1 of 3 scout counties based in greater manchester. area divided 10 districts,covering city of manchester itself, stockport, tameside, new mills , glossop. both new mills , glossop situated within county boundaries of derbyshire, has been included in area due close geographical position near greater manchester conurbation.

greater manchester north 1 of 3 scout counties cover metropolitan county of greater manchester, , provides scouting programme towns of bolton, bury, farnworth, heywood, middleton, prestwich , rochdale, amongst others. county headquarters in middleton.

greater manchester west scout county

greater manchester west 1 of 3 scout counties cover metropolitan county of greater manchester, , provides scouting programme metropolitan boroughs of salford, trafford , wigan.

atherton , tyldesley district , leigh , district merged on 1 october 2009 form lilford district.


salford district , swinton , pendlebury district merged in december 2015 create new lowry district. new district named after artist l.s.lowry spent of life living in swinton , notably painted industrial landscapes , working-class people of salford many years.


merseyside scout county

merseyside scout county scout county covering 5 metropolitan boroughs of knowsley, st. helens, sefton, wirral, , city of liverpool.

on 1 april 2010 bootle, sefton east , kirkby districts merged form altside district, allerton, picton , parts of knowsley districts merged form liverpool south district , fairfield, walton on hill , parts of knowsley districts merged form liverpool north district. followed review of county in 2009.


within merseyside county, crosby district home of crosby scout , guide marina club, offer dinghy , kayak sailing local youth, based @ newly rebuilt crosby lakeside adventure centre opened in october 2009. club runs dinghy section, sailing variety of craft - wayfarer, gp14s, enterprise, rs fevas, herons, gulls, toppers - , kayak section. co-run scout , guide movements, not exclusively scouts , guides, , draws membership local youth aged 10 20 years.


west lancashire scout county

west lancashire scout county scout county covering half of lancashire, other half being covered east lancashire scout county 2 separated m6.


the boundaries of lancashire changed in 1974 part of local government. shortly after, scout counties in lancashire changed reflect these border changes. west lancashire scout county created parts of original north west , south west lancashire scout counties. according 2006 census scout county had 9347 members within 154 scout groups.

mountaineering

the scout county regularly runs varied number of trips including training weekends in scotland around cairngorms , smaller ski trips alps scotland.


greenland

the scout county known mountaineering adventure element of program. on last few years 2 trips greenland have resulted in assents of unclimbed peaks. first trip, in 2004 featured link waddecar via sat phone during campsite s birthday celebrations chief scout, second during 2007 ren land featured far larger number of participants , sea kayak element. trips approved young explorers trust , british mountaineering council. mountaineering , adventure side, scientific elements completed


international

away mountaineering county has run in past trips uganda aimed complete multi-purpose building used health promotions, clinics immunisation of local population. county has participant in international jamboree, eurojam , international trips austria, belgium , canada. have attended menin gate memorials during november.
