the eyre family did not live @ middleton lodge appear have owned 1883 until 1947. elizabeth martha eyre inherited property in 1883 born elizabeth martha allgood (1821-1892). father robert lancelot allgood of nunwick hall. in 1840 married henry eyre (1805-1889) became general in british army.


when relative leonard lawrie hartley died in 1883 elizabeth inherited middleton tyas estate including middleton lodge. died in 1892 , son colonel henry robert eyre inherited house. when died in 1904 inherited eldest son lieutenant colin douglas eyre of kings royal rifles. tragically killed in 1910 @ age of 30 when riding in cavalry brigade point point races , horse fell. had been married 6 months before accident , had no children property went younger brother ralph vincent eyre. when ralph died in 1940 unmarried , estate left cousin isabella mary baker married michael adrian speir. speirs lived in middleton tyas many years appear have sold middleton lodge , other properties in 1946. bought ropner family. john raymond ropner purchased property in 1946 , lived there family until 1980. bought allison family still own today.
