today, substantial number of assiniboine people live jointly other tribes, such plains cree, saulteaux, sioux , gros ventre, in several reservations in canada , united states. in manitoba, assiniboine survive individuals, holding no separate communal reserves.

in march 2012, these 2 reservations has received 63 american bison yellowstone national park, released 2,100-acre game preserve 25 miles north of poplar. there many other bison herds outside yellowstone, 1 of few genetically pure ones, in animals not cross-bred cattle. native americans celebrated action restoration of bison. came more century after bison destroyed overhunting european americans , government action destroy food source of powerful plains indians. assiniboine , gros ventre tribes @ fort belknap indian reservation receive portion of herd.
