a typical example of fortified bridge pont valentré near cahors (midi-pyrénées) in southern france. site totally preserved apart eastern barbican (fortified gate) removed in 19th century. in germany , central europe ruins of bridge fortifications have survived. there individual gate towers, example on stone bridge in regensburg , charles bridge in prague.
