the third drowning, known bouffay drownings, perhaps better known previous 2 events. execution took lives of 129 prisoners on nights of 14 & 15 december 1793 (24 & 25 frimaire, year ii). led jean-jacques goullin , michel moreau-grandmaison, marat company went bouffay prison, of them drunk. unable or unwilling consult lists, soldiers went @ random, grabbing prisoners cells, stripped them of belongings , money, then, tied them pairs heavy rocks. once loaded onto flat boat, guards sailed anguished men short distance downstream , cast them off little further trentemoult, fishing village directly opposite nantes, near island of cheviré.
