reyes selected coach josé luis gonzález china participate in concacaf under-17 championship in 2009. mexico qualified under-17 world cup , reached round-of-16.


mexico u20

in 2010, reyes played milk cup under-20 team. following year, reyes selected coach juan carlos chávez participate in concacaf under-20 championship. mexico qualified under-20 world cup , finished in third place, defeating france 3–1. prior world cup, reyes participated in toulon tournament.


mexico u23

reyes selected participate in 2011 pan american games under-23 national team. mexico won gold after defeating argentina 1–0 in final.


in 2012, reyes part of mexican team won gold medal @ 2012 toulon tournament, defeating turkey 3–1 in final. made final cut squad participating in 2012 summer olympics, played in every match, including in 2–1 win on brazil in gold medal match @ wembley stadium on 11 august. @ 19 years old, reyes youngest squad member @ olympics.

reyes made debut senior national team @ 2011 copa américa; however, mexico used under-22 squad in tournament. made full debut on 25 march 2013 in 2014 world cup qualification match against united states @ estadio azteca. reyes participated in 2013 fifa confederations cup, playing match in 2–1 victory against japan.


reyes captained mexico first time during friendly match against south korea on 29 january 2014. given captain s armband after rafael márquez substituted off in second half in 4–0 victory.


reyes played against netherlands in 2014 fifa world cup round of 16 match. entered match substitute héctor moreno, suffered injury in slide-tackle arjen robben.
